Caller ID Based Routing

The Caller ID of the incoming call can be used to send the call to specific extension or can be used to determine the call route. 

Note: Basic call routing techniques will need to be used to send calls from the outside lines to the system extension or user. 

System extension Caller ID routing
  1. Login to the Allworx administration page
  2. Navigate to Home --> Phone System --> Extensions
  3. Click on the "add new Extension" link
  4. Give the extension a description
  5. Click the "Add" button
  6. Click the "View Call Routes" next to the system extension you just created.
  7. Click on "add new Call Route"
  8. Choose the radio button for either external or internal calls.
  9. For calls from external numbers, enter the phone number with area code in the text box. For calls from internal extensions, choose the extension from the drop down menu.
  10. Once the call route selections have been made, select the Update button

User extension Caller ID routing
  1. Login to the Allworx administration page
  2. Navigate to Business --> Users
  3. Click on the Ext. number link, next to the User that is adding a Caller ID-based route 
  4. Select the Modify link next to the presence that is to be configured.
  5. Choose the radio button for either external or internal calls. For internal transfers or calls you will need to specify the handsets owner you want to route the call based on.
  6. For calls from external numbers, enter the phone number with area code in the text box. For calls from internal extensions, choose the extension from the drop down menu.
  7. Once the call route selections have been made, select the Update button
Basic Route Example:
  1. Navigate to Home --> Phone System --> Extensions
  2. Create a new extension 198 - sales
  3. Navigate to Home --> Phone System --> Auto Attendants
  4. Configure option 2 to route to extension 198 - Sales
  5. Navigate to Home --> Phone System --> Extensions
  6. Click the "View Call Routes" next to extension 198
  7. Click on "add new call route"
  8. Choose the radio button for external 
  9. Enter the area code 
  10. Click "add a connection attempt"
  11. Choose a handset and ring count. To add more than one handset, click "add a destination".
  12. Choose the Finally route
  13. Click Update
To add more area codes follow steps 7 -13 above for the sales extension.
