Forwarding Voice Mail Messages via Message Aliases
The Allworx server provides two methods of message notification, “Message Escalation” and “Message Aliases”.
Message Escalation sends a notification of a received message via e-mail or SMS text, but does not forward the message. Message escalation will also notify additional parties when the new message has not been listened to after a set amount of notifications has been sent.
Using the server’s Message Aliases feature (Business --> Message Aliases), you can forward any incoming messages for a user to external email account.
This is done by entering the user’s Allworx login name in the Email alias field and the external email address in the members list. If you want to save a copy of the message on the Allworx server, also add the user’s login name in the members list. Doing this, will permit users to listen to and manage the voicemails using the Allworx Message Center even though a copy was e-mailed.
If you do not want to save a copy to the Allworx server, and would rather have the e-mail deleted once the email is sent, only add the external e-mail address to the members list.
You can also add more than one login name or email address to send the messages to more than one voice mailbox or external email account.
1. Navigate to Home --> Business --> Message Aliases
2. Click on the "add new alias" link
3. enter the user's Login name into the "Email Alias" field
This is located at Business --> Users, Click on the "Modify" link at the right hand side.
4. Members should be the Login Name(s) & Email Address(es)
Think of the login name as the mailbox, without it the system will not store a copy of the message, only send the email.
5. Click the Add button
