Configuring an Allworx Px 6/2 Expander

Put the Allworx Px 6/2 Expander into "Configuration Mode" 
  1. Remove the power and Ethernet cables from the Px unit. 
  2. Plug the power back into the Px unit. Make sure the Ethernet is not connected. 
  3. Wait for the Power and Port LEDs to go solid amber (about 45 seconds). This indicates that it is in Configuration Mode. 
  4. Connect the service PC directly to the unit using an Ethernet cable. DHCP is enabled on the Px unit while in Configuration Mode. 
  5. Open a command window on the service PC by clicking Start, Run, then typing cmd into the Open field and then clicking OK. 
  6. On the command line in the window, type: ipconfig /release and press the Enter key. This will release the computer's IP address. 
  7. Once the command prompt is re-displayed, type: ipconfig /renew and press the Enter key. This will renew the computer's IP address. 
  8. Once the command prompt is re-displayed, enter the Px's IP address (192.168.2.254) into the address field of the PC's web browser and click Go. 
Configure the Px Expander
  1. If a device other than the site’s Allworx server is being used as the network’s DHCP server, the Px must either have its Boot Server IP Address set manually or it must get the information from the DHCP server.
  2. Navigate to the Boot Server IP Address field. Enter the IP address of the Allworx Server on which the Px will be installed.
  3. Scroll down to the new password field, and create a new password, if it is empty.
  4. Click update
  5. Click restart
  6. When the power LED light starts to flash, disconnect the Ethernet cable.
  7. When the power LED light turns solid amber, unplug the power
  8. Connect the Px to the sites network and apply power.
