Before you begin, make sure you have the IP address of the Allworx server. You can get this information from an existing working handset by:
Configuring the new handset
If running 7.1 or lower
IP phone, add, new phone, handset, 9202, 9204, 9212, 9224, 9308, 9312
- pressing the "Config" softkey,
- press the down arrow to highlight "Current Status/Info" press the checkmark key,
- The IP address of the server will be the Boot Server address.
Configuring the new handset
- Plug a network cable into the network port on the bottom of the Allworx phone.
- Connect the other end of the network cable to an available port on your network.
- Plug in the power adaptor, if needed.
- Once the phone boots and fails, press the Config soft key. To cancel the initial configuration load press the Mute/DND key.
- Use the arrows and scroll down to Network Settings, and press the checkmark
- Arrow down to Edit Boot Server IP, and press the checkmark
- Use * for (.) and enter the Allworx system IP address, and press the checkmark
- Scroll down and select Edit Contact Serv IP, and press the checkmark
- Use * for (.) and enter the Allworx system IP address, and press the checkmark
- Press exit, exit again, and Yes to save settings.
- Reboot the phone. You should see a reboot button. If not, press config and scroll to reboot phone, and press the checkmark.
- After the phone reboots, press Yes to load new software.
- When the phone comes up it will ask you to add to user. You can follow the screen if the user has already been added to the system. If not, you can add the phone to a user in the Allworx admin. It will say "Allworx idle IP phone" or the user info when ready.(7.2 or higher only)
If running 7.1 or lower
- After the phone reboots it will say Idle Allworx IP phone
- In the Allworx admin click Handsets
- Find the MAC address for the new phone and click Modify for it.
- In the Owner drop down box, choose the correct user from the list
- Click Update at the bottom.
- Reboot phone. The user info will now display on the screen of the phone.
