Setting up a Remote / External IP Phone
To set up a remote phone, we have to allow the phone to communicate back and forth with the main Allworx server through firewalls.
Programming the Remote Phone:
Connect the phone to the network, and plug in the power.
Set the following areas to the Public IP address of the Allworx server E.G.(10.10.10.10)
-Press Config > scroll down to Network settings > to Edit Boot Server IP. Add the IP Address, using the asterisk key to enter (.)
-Press Config > scroll down to Network settings > to Edit Contact Server IP. Add the IP Address, using the asterisk key to enter (.)
Set the ‘Plug n Play Secret Key’ found under Servers > VoIP in the Allworx Admin.
-Press Config > scroll down to network settings > to Remote Plug n Play
Once both have been entered press exit > exit again > and yes to save into flash.
Then reboot the phone.
Third Party Firewall
You shouldn't need to open the firewall for a single handset, but if you experiance issues:
A. Look for SIP ALG in the router and disable it
B. Set the phone to a static IP address or create a DHCP reservation in the router.
You shouldn't need to, but if you have any problems registering the phone:
Map / forward these ports to the private IP address of the handset in the firewall / router:
RTP:16384-16393 UDP
SIP:5060 UDP
BLF: 2088 UDP
HTTP:8081 TCP
When there is more than one remote phone behind a firewall:
Each phone will need a fixed IP address on the LAN.
On the phone press Config > Network settings > and turn off DHCP.
You will now have an option to configure the Phone IP and Gateway IP.
Then each phone will need a specific set of ports mapped to it.
16384 – 16393 UDP and 5061 UDP for Remote phone1.
16394 – 16404 UDP and 5062 UDP for Remote phone2.
.....
Setting up the Allworx Server:
If there is a firewall on the subnet between the Allworx and the Internet:
Map these ports to the Fixed IP of the Allworx:
BLF:2088 (UDP)
SIP: 5060 (UDP)
HTTP: 8081 (TCP)
RTP:15000-15511 (UDP)
If you have more than one phone at the remote location, you will need to set up a handset profile for each one to match the ports(ex: 16384-16393 UDP and 5061 UDP)
In the Allworx administration page
Create one of these for each remote phone at a single location.
If the Allworx is in Nat/Firewall with DMZ mode with its own internet connection no mapping is needed.
