How to perform an
​Allworx Office Safe Backup

Allworx OfficeSafe is a PC application that performs backups on Allworx servers and restores the servers with the 
saved backups. OfficeSafe includes a Windows service that performs the backups and an administration 
tool for configuring the service, configuring restores, and managing the backups.

Windows Firewall
If you are running the windows firewall, OfficeSafe service will need to be permitted through in order to perform the backups off the Allworx server.

Windows 7: 
  1. Open the Control Panel 
  2. Choose Windows Firewall, or System and Security than Windows Firewall 
  3. Choose “Allow a program/feature through Windows Firewall”. A list of programs will be displayed. 
  4. If “OfficeSafeService.exe” is not in the list, you must add it by clicking “Change Settings” button. 
  5. Click the “Allow another program” button. The “add a Program” window will be displayed. 
  6. Click the “Browse” button 
  7. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Allworx\OfficeSafe Service. If you are running a 64bit operating system Navigate to C:\Program Files(x86). 
  8. Choose “OfficeSafeService.exe” then click the Open Button. 
  9. You should now see “OfficeSafeService.exe” in the Programs list. Click Add. “OfficeSafeService.exe” should now appear in the Allowed programs window and its box should be checked 
  10. Check all the unchecked boxes on the same row as the “OfficeSafeService.exe”, then click OK
  11. First, you must have the OfficeSafe application installed on a PC that is on the same LAN as the Allworx system.

First Full Backup

Note: Any user that will be changing the OfficeSafe configuration must be a windows administrator
  • Open the OfficeSafe application on your PC.
  • Note the current settings box when you open the program.
  • In the Allworx admin, click Backup under Maintenence, and then modify
  • Set the IP address of the PC running OfficeSafe
  • Set the time and frequncy if you would like automatic backups to run
  • Set the backup mode (We suggest performing a full backup first, then changing to incremental)
  • Click Update to save the changes
  • Click Backup Now to start the backup.
  • You should see "backup completed successfully" in the OfficeSafe application when complete.
